Pop’s Picks Week 15: Lions Continue To Roar; Jaguars Pull An Upset!

Pop’s Notepad

Is there any team that could block the Eagles from going to the Super-bowl and winning it? I’ve seen that there aren’t mean teams with the talent and gridiron know-how to get it done. In the NFC, the only three teams that can beat the Eagles are the Cowboys and the 49ers but wait, those clawing, knee-biting Lions came close to fulfilling this task in game one. The Bills or Chiefs, led by the ex-Eagles Coach Andy Reid, could answer the call if they go to the Super Bowl. Enjoy this week of football as the season is quickly approaching its end!

Pop’s Pop’s record last week:

Week: Straight up 10-4-1 Spread 7-8-0

Season: Straight up 112-81-2 Spread 97-92-5

49ers (9-4) at Seahawks (7-6)

Line: 49ers are favoured by 3.5

Thursday 8:15 AMZN

The Seahawks need to win to keep their playoff hopes within reach. The 49ers didn’t miss a beat with third-string quarterback Brock Purdy. The 49ers’ defence will dominate and keep their division record perfect.

49ers win and cover

Seahawks lead the Series 30-18-0.

Colts (4-8-1) at Vikings(10-3)

Line: Vikings are favoured by 4

Saturday at 1:00 NFLN

The Colts are reverting to their old selves and aren’t going to able to keep up with the Vikings. The Vikings put up a disappointing performance against the Lions but will rebound against the Colts.

Vikings win and cover.

Colts lead the Series 18-7-1.

Ravens (9-4) at Browns (5-8)

Line: Browns are favoured by 2.5.

Saturday at 4:30 PM NFLN

Ravens may have to turn to practice squad players for the starting quarterback Anthony Brown and backup Brett Hundley, as it doesn’t appear that Lamar Jackson will not be available. Jackson’s replacement Qb Tyler Huntley is in concussion protocol and may not be ready. The Browns are not having a great season and will lose another one. I am sticking with the Ravens and the points.

Ravens win.

Ravens lead the Series 35-12-0.

Dolphins (8-5) at Bills (10-3)

Line: Bills are favoured by 7.5.

Saturday at 8:15 PM NFLN

The Dolphins will be facing complex weather elements in upstate New York. Given the conditions, the Dolphins may need a running game to be successful against the Bills. Last week, the team required bench heaters in LA, so they are not a cold-weather team. The Bills will grind out a win and even the series.

Bills win but don’t cover.

Dolphins lead the Series 62-54-1.

Falcons(5-7) at Saints (4-9)

Line: Saints are favoured by 4

The Falcons have been hot and cold this year; the Saints are losing many games this year. In this weak AFC South, the Falcons can take over first place in the division with a couple of wins. The Saints win this one as the Falcons continue to implode.

Sunday at 1 PM FOX

Saints win but don’t cover.

Falcons lead the Series 54-53-0.

Cowboys (11-3) at Jaguars (5-8)

Line: Cowboys are favoured by 4.5.

Sunday at 1 PM FOX

Last week the Cowboys won but were still disappointing. The Jaguars had a solid win over the Titans and have some playoff paths if they can win a few more games and beat them again. The Salvation Army Tank-celebrating Cowboys will lose this game as Trevor Lawerence continues to shine.

Jaguars win.

Cowboys lead the Series 4-3-0.

Lions (6-7) at Jets (7-6)

Line: Jets are favoured by 1.

Sunday at 1:00 PM CBS

The Lions have been kneecapping and clawing all teams on their path. The Jets will be more formidable with QB Whiteand his backup will be Zach Wilson. The Jets are good, but I sense too much drama with the Quarterback situation. I’m taking the point and the Lions.

Lions win.

The series tied 7-7-0.

Chiefs (10-3) at Texans (1-11-1)

Sunday at 1:00 PM CBS

Line: Chiefs are favoured by 14.

Last week the Texans almost put the Cowboys away, but their fate was sealed when they couldn’t score from the inside the five-yard line and was forced to give the ball back to the Cowboys. It will be a mistake for the Chiefs to underestimate them and look past them. They won’t and will register a comfortable win.

Chiefs win but don’t cover.

Chiefs lead the series 8-5-0.

Eagles (12-1) at Bears (3-10)

Sunday at 1:00 PM FOX

Line: Eagles are favoured by 8

It will be interesting to watch two athletic quarterbacks play against each other. The Eagles are a much better team and will continue to win, putting them on track to finish with the best record in the NFC.

Eagles win and cover.

Bears lead the Series 29-16-1.

Steelers (5-8) at Panthers (5-8)

Sunday at 1:00 PM CBS

Line: Steelers are favoured by 2.5

The Panthers are hot and winning lately. The Steelers QB Kenny Pickett left the game early, is in concussion protocol, and may not be available to face the Panthers. Carefully taking the Steelers.

Steelers win and cover.

Steelers lead the Series 6-1-0.

Cardinals (4-9) at Broncos (3-10)

Sunday at 4:05 PM FOX

Line: Broncos are favoured by 1.5

Here is a game that the Broncos can win, as both teams have disappointing seasons. Broncos solid defence will win this one.

Broncos win and cover.

Broncos lead the Series 9-1-1.

Patriots (7-6) at Raiders (5-8)

Sunday at 4:05 PM CBS

Line: Raiders are favoured by 2

It is difficult to pick the Raiders at this point. The play-calling on offence has been their Achilles’ heel and has cost the Raiders a few games this year. I am going with the Patriots and taking the points.

Patriots win and cover.

Patriots lead the Series 20-15-1.

Bengals (9-4) at Bucs (6-7)

Sunday at 4:25 PM CBS

Line: Bengals are favoured by 2.5

Bucs imploded against the 49ers as the Bengals continued winning. Nothing has changed this week.

Bengals win and cover.

Bucs lead the Series 7-5-0.

Titans (7-6) at Chargers (5-8)

Sunday at 4:25 PM CBS

Line: Chargers are favoured by 2

Last week the Titans were a disappointing choice as they lost their second game in a row and are now putting the division within reach of the Jaguars. The return of receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen has given the Chargers’ offence a new life.

Chargers win and cover.

Chargers lead the Series 28-18-1.

Giants (7-5-1) at Commanders (7-5-1)

Sunday at 8:20 PM CBS

Line: Redskins are favoured by 4

The loser of this game is virtually eliminated from playoffs; the winner has an excellent chance of getting in. The Giants haven’t been able to win lately. Giants usually play well in Washington. I’m taking the points and the Giants.

Giants win.

Giants lead the Series 105-71-5.

Rams (4-9) at Packers (6-7)

Monday at 8:15 PM ESPN

Line: Packers are favoured by 9.

The Packers are still alive for a playoff spot. The Rams had a late-season revival as Baker Mayfield played exceptionally well, but can he sustain that level of play?

Packers win but don’t cover.

Packers lead the Series 48-47-2.
