Two converted penalties from Xherdan Shaqiri wasn’t enough for the Chicago Fire as CF Montreal put 3 past Chicago keeper Gabriel Slonina. A brace from Kei Kamara and another big goal by Zachary Brault-Guillard saw Montreal’s point total increase to 56 on the season.
First half:
Kei Kamara opened the scoring in this game with a half lucky half skillful goal in the 21st minute. Of off a corner, the ball came to Ismael Koné. His shot was going wide, but Kamara stuck out his heel and redirected the ball into the back of the net.
Kamara would find himself on the scoresheet again 8 minutes later, and no luck was needed here. After a Chicago Fire turnover, Kamara received the ball at the top of the box and put his curling effort just inside the post to double the CF Montreal lead.
Chicago would pull one back in the 39th minute. After Sebastian Breza was deemed to have committed a foul in the box, Xherdan Shaqiri stepped and converted the penalty. 2-1 Montreal.
In the 44th minute, Kei Kamara was at it again. He’d jump on a loose ball and this time turn provider for Zachary Brault-Guillard who’s low driven shot found the back of the net. CF Montreal reestablished their two goal lead right before half time.
Second Half:
In the 57th minute, Chicago would find themselves within 1 again. After a very silly foul from Joel Waterman would lead to another penalty for the Fire, Xherdan Shaqiri would score again from the spot to make it 3-2.
Romell Quioto came close to a 4th goal for Montreal in the 80th minute, but his header from 8 yards out went just wide.
Chicago never really threatened Montreal again in this game and 3-2 would be the final score.
Another good win by CF Montreal who have now set new records for points and wins in a season. They still have three chances to improve on both, with the first chance coming this Saturday night again New England.
