AEW Dynamite Preview: Unification Match to Headline Dynamite!

It was a massive shock to everyone when it was announced that the AEW Title unification match would happen on Dynamite, just two weeks away from All Out. Tony Khan must have something up his sleeve to have such a big match set so close to the PPV. We also have Britt Baker in action, the next quarterfinal  match up in the trios tournament and more.

CM Punk (C) vs Jon Moxley (C) – AEW Title Unification Match

This is an absolutely huge match to be happening on free TV, but hey, we’re not complaining. CM Punk and Jon Moxley are two of the biggest names in pro wrestling right now, and these two are set for possibly the biggest match in AEW history.

Jon Moxley won the Interim AEW title at Forbidden Door when he defeated NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi. Mox has already defended the interim title successfully on three occasions, and the fourth one on this week’s Dynamite is the biggest of them all.

A lot of people were baffled when AEW announced this match was happening on Dynamite, and it raised some eyebrows to will this match have a conclusive winner…It’s not like AEW to announce a match and not deliver, but they have done the occasional draw here and there. I think the draw could be on for this match to push to All Out, or even a big heel turn for CM Punk.

Death Triangle vs Will Ospreay & Aussie Open – Trios Quarter Finals Match

This should be a fantastic match up and another great example of AEW putting on matches that most people never thought possible. Just having Will Ospreay on the show is headline worthy enough, but the fact we’re getting PAC, Penta, Fenix, and Aussie Open included as well, is fantastic.

I think this match could also be used to set up a potential match for PAC vs Ospreay for the All Atlantic Championship. Or if Ospreay and Aussie open win, they have the potential of meeting the Elite in the next round. Which would see Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay share a ring for the first time in 4 years…

I see Ospreay and Aussie Open getting the win here in this match.

We have three other matches announced at this time and they are Britt Baker taking on Kilynn King, Jay Lethal goes one-on-one with Dax Harwood, and it’s father vs son when Billy Gunn goes up against Colten Gunn.

All this and so much more can be seen on TBS (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
