A Game to Forget for CF Montreal in LA…

This is one of those games that you can’t dwell on for too long. CF Montreal were behind after the 8th minute and never really got back into it. LA added a second goal right before halftime, and a brace from Rayan Raveloson in the second half gave the Galaxy a comfortable 4-0 win.

First Half:

By the time this game was 5 minutes old, it should’ve been 1-1. The Galaxy misses a great chance in the very early stages in the game, and Ismael Kone had a chance in the box but he put his shot high and wide.

The Galaxy would get their first goal in the 8th minute, when the ball fell to Javier Hernandez in the area, and he made no mistake, firing the ball past Sebastian Breza.

CF Montreal were almost level right away, when Lassi Lappalainen found himself free at the top of the box. He hit a nice, curling shot, but Jonathon Bond made a huge save.

Right at the stroke of halftime, VAR determined a handball was missed in the CF Montreal area, and LA Galaxy were awarded a penalty. Dejan Joveljic stepped up for LA, and he converted past Breza, making it 2-0 going into halftime:

Second Half:

The scoring continued for LA in the 60th minute, when Rayan Raveloson tapped in a beautiful cross that left Sebastian Breza with no chance, 3-0 Galaxy.

In the 79th minute, LA would but this game away for good. Sacha Klejstan would play in Raveloson with a very neat back heel pass, and the Galaxy midfielder would blast his shot past Breza, to make it 4 for LA.

CF Montreal were outclassed on this night, plain and simple. They did have a few chances, but it was never really in doubt who would come out the winner on this night. Take what lessons you can from this game, then forget the rest, and on to the next…

CF Montreal’s next game is against Kansas City on saturday, where they look to get back to winning ways.
