CF Montreal would fall behind very early in this game, when Jordan Morris gave Seattle the lead after only 3 minutes. But Montreal would claw back into the game in the 18th, and take the lead in the second half thanks to two goals from Mason Toye who was making his first start of the season.
First Half:
Seattle went up 1-0 in the 3rd minute thanks to Jordan Morris. Morris made a good run behind the CF Montreal line after Seattle caused a turnover in the midfield. He made his way in on goal, and even though Mathieu Choiniere did a great job to catch up to him, Morris was still able to beat Sebastian Breza.
CF Montreal would be back level only 15 minutes later. It was CFM’s turn to cause a turnover, and it was Kei Kamara who forced the turnover leading to a 2-1 from about 40 yards out. Kamara would find Mason Toye, who would make no mistake, netting his first goal of the season.
The rest of the first half was pretty tame from both sides, with the best half chance coming to Mason Toye, but his shot from a tough angle went wide of the post.
Second Half:
Less than a minute into the second half, Sebastian Breza made an initial save, but almost lost the ball to Seattle player, but luckily for Montreal, he was able to regain control just in time.
Montreal almost had the go ahead goal in the 56th minute, when Lassi Lappalainen picked off a loose pass and played in a nice ball to Matko Miljevic, but his shot only found the side netting.
CF Montreal did eventually find their second goal, and it came from Mason Toye again in the 62nd minute. The assist again came from Kei Kamara who played in a great low cross that was basically a tap in for Toye inside the 6 yard box. 2-1 CF Montreal.
Seattle’s last chance to snatch a point came 3 minutes into injury time, but Yeimar Gomez’s shot was held confidently by Breza.
Montreal would hold on to secure 3 more points, which has them sitting on top of the eastern conference, tied on points with Philadelphia. CF Montreal’s next game is Monday night against LA Galaxy.
