On this week’s episode of Dynamite, the Owen Hart Tournament continues with four huge matchups, 3 on the men’s side, and one on the women’s side. This will include both jokers being revealed in the tournament. Wardlow is also scheduled to get 10 lashes, the AEW champion will be in action, and the BCC and JAS come face-to-face.
Samoa Joe vs Joker – Owen Hart Tournament
Samoa Joe has already had some great matches in his short time in AEW, especially that special match against Minoru Suzuki. And here’s hoping that on Wednesday we get another great match involving Samoa Joe.
With the amount of big names leaving WWE recently, this joker could almost be anyone. Names like Johnny Gargano and Cesaro are still out there right now, and could be the joker. And imagine the match that either of those guys would have with Samoa Joe!?
I think that maybe AEW have already showed their hand here, and Samoa Joe probably loses due to interference from Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh. But AEW have shown to zig when we think they’ll zag.
Britt Baker vs Joker – Owen Hart Tournament
Here is our second instance of having a joker being revealed. Like with the amount free agent male talent right now, there’s tons of big name female wrestlers who can be the joker. If I could grab any talent right now, I would pick Athena.
Britt Baker will be standing across the ring from the joker, and I like that this continues the “conspiracy” against Baker. Would AEW introduce a Joker and have them lose in their debut? You never know, but I think that Baker has gained so much name value since the beginning of AEW that a loss here for her wouldn’t hurt her that much.
Rey Fenix vs Kyle O’Reilly – Owen Hart Tournament
This match seems like it’ll be a great clash of styles. Rey Fenix has recently returned and looked great in his return to action. Like with the Samoa Joe matchup, Fenix has an on going story involving his group, and the House of Black, meaning that I don’t think Fenix will make it to the finals.
On the other hand, we could have the interesting semi-finals or finals match up of Kyle O’Reilly meeting up with Adam Cole to re-ignite that story from their time in WWE. If I had to choose for this match, I’d go with Kyle O’Reilly.
Also on tap for tonight’s Dynamite, Adam Cole takes on Jeff Hardy in the last of the Owen Tournament matches, Wardlow will receive 10 lashes, AEW champion Hangman Page takes on Konosuke Takeshita, and Chris Jericho and William Regal will come face-to-face.
