AEW Dynamite Preview: Dream Match on Free TV!

After last week’s big time main event of FTR vs Young Bucks II (if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth going back to watch it) delivered on all the hype, you’d think that AEW would just chill for a second right? Just Kidding, we’re getting Samoa Joe vs Minoru Suzuki for the ROH Television Title. Six months ago, everything about this match would seem ridiculous to even think about ever. Happening but here we are. This is just one of the marquee match ups for this stacked Dynamite.

Minoru Suzuki (C) vs Samoa. Joe – ROH Television Title Match

For wrestling fans who support hard-hitting, methodical matches, this will be the match for you. These guys are legitimately two of the toughest men in all of wrestling, and this will surely be a crazy match.

Minoru Suzuki is a legend of professional wrestling, and even though he’s closer to the end of his career then the beginning, if his name is on the match card, it’ll get peoples attention. Especially over here in North America. Suzuki has been wrestling for over 30 years, and at last week’s Ring of Honor “Super Card of Honor” he won his FIRST title in America. It was a really cool moment, but he won’t have time to rest, as his first defence won’t be an easy one.

Samoa Joe made his return to ROH at that same event, and has even already qualified for the Owen Hart Tournament last week by beating Max Caster in very convincing style…

I’m expecting multiple chops, forearm shots, and sleeper holds in this match. I’m predicting that Samoa Joe will win in this match, as I’m assuming that Minoru Suzuki will be heading back to Japan.

Jurassic Express (C) vs reDragon – AEW Tag Team Title Match

ROH TV title isn’t the only belt on the line for this week’s Dynamite. I like the little detail that Jungle Boy pointed out last week that, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly don’t have a good enough record to challenge them for the titles, so he and Luchasaurus are giving out the title match. It’s a nice call back to the wins and losses actually mean something in AEW.

reDragon have gotten their title match the good old fashion heel way. Annoy the champions enough until they offer up a title shot. Fish and O’Reilly, along with Adam Cole have been playing their roles perfectly over the last few weeks, and they’ve all been rewarded with title matches for it.

This is an interesting one to call. Jurassic Express have been champions for less than 100 days, but already have 5 title defences, and one was a match involving reDragon. So do you have the Jurassic Express title reign come to an end, or have reDragon 0/2 in title matches already?

I’m still unsure of who is going to win this match, but if I had to choose, I’m going with new AEW tag team champions in reDragon.

MJF vs Captain Shawn Dean

This is a nice callback to the MJF and CM Punk feud where Punk caused a loss on MJF’s record when he got Friedman disqualified in a match against Shawn Dean. Dean’s success continued against the Pinnacle last week, when he scored a roll up win against Shawn Spears when Wardlow tried to make his way into the building.

I would be shocked if MJF lost here again, but you never know. This Wardlow story is being perfectly right now, and the live audiences are loving it. I expect Wardlow to get to the ring this week, but it will be too late, and MJF will have already gotten out of there by then, with a victory

The other two matches announced for this week’s Dynamite are a couple of multi-man matches. Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz are looking for revenge in a 6-man tag against the JAS, and Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs will be taking on the team of Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee

All this and so much more can be seen on TBS (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
