AEW Dynamite Preview: Road to Revolution Continues!

Unlike last week’s Dynamite, we have a ton of matches announced for the upcoming Dynamite. A lot of these matches have major implications as well. Bryan Danielson will be in action against one of the most promising prospects on the roster, another face of the revolution qualifying match, a women’s DQ match that is sure to be brutal, the TNT championship on the line, and will the Inner Circle implode?

Sammy Guevara (C) vs Darby Allin – TNT Title Match

It’s absolutely insane to think about how big this match feels, as both Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin have been presented in such a big way since the very beginning of AEW. Two guys who have really become stars in AEW, and it’s fair to say the future is safe with these two as not only have they become house hold names already, both these guys are under the age of 30!

Every time these guys are in the same ring, they deliver a very entertaining match. It shouldn’t really surprise anyone because both the in-ring styles of Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin is throw caution to the wind, so it makes sense to see a car crash of a wrestling match when they meet one-on-one.

Sammy Guevara is coming off that phenomenal ladder match with Cody Rhodes, where he became the undisputed TNT champion. He’s had a couple weeks to recover and now he faces his next challenge. Darby Allin has been involved in a strange angle with Andrade El Idolo, and I think there is a chance that Andrade might get involved in this match. I think that we’ll see Sammy retain here.

Thunder Rosa vs Mercedes Martinez – No Disqualification Match

This on paper is a fantastic matchup. When you think of two great women wrestlers who have loads of experience, the names of Mercedes Martinez and Thunder Rosa come to mind right away. I think putting the two against each immediately is also a very smart move, and these two women will get their chance to shine on this week’s Dynamite in no DQ match.

Mercedes Martinez made her shock debut when she cost Thunder Rosa her match against Jade Cargill in the TBS tournament. Initially, it was thought that Jade and Mark Sterling brought in Martinez, but as we recently found out, it was none other than Britt Baker. Baker looked to Martinez to take out Thunder Rosa, and that is what the AEW women’s champ is hoping to see in this match.

By finding out it was Baker who was behind costing Thunder Rosa her match, I think this reignites the feud between the two. I think that Thunder Rosa will be the one to face Britt Baker at Revolution for the AEW women’s title. I also think that Rosa will be victorious in this match, and we could possibly see Jamie Hayter either be a distraction for Martinez to lose, or even outright leave team D.M.D altogether.

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs Santana & Ortiz

This is a match I have been looking forward to all week, because I am hoping that this will be the end of the Inner Circle. I have nothing but good things to say about the group as a whole, I just think the time has come to break up the group. Chris Jericho is a great character to have in a break up angle, and I think that Santana, Ortiz and even Sammy Guevara have gained all they can from this group.

I’m interested to see how this one turns out, but I think it’s clear that the winners of this match NEED to be Santana and Ortiz. I think that having Jake Hager in this match can protect Jericho, but I think the finish has to be on Chris Jericho to really cement the fact that Santana and Ortiz don’t need “Le Champion” anymore.

We also have two other big matches announced for this upcoming show. Bryan Danielson has pitched a dream stable with himself and Jon Moxley a couple weeks ago, and Matt Sydal and Lee Moriarty took exception to that. So we’ll be getting Danielson vs Moriarty in what should be a technical master class. We also have Wardlow taking on Max Caster for a spot in the face of the revolution ladder match.

All this and so much more can be seen on TBS (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
