The Super Bowl is almost upon us folks! I say the same thing every year, but I can’t believe we’re already here. In what has been an incredible season filled with upsets and surprises, it’s only fitting that the Bengals are in the Super Bowl. Cincy knew what they were getting with Joey Burrow, but even they gotta admit they did not expect a Super Bowl run in his first full season under centre. The Bengals are a cool bunch of cats. Chase, Higgins, and Boyd are a scary trio. While I did predict Chase to win OROY, his numbers have even surprised me. He just makes playing football look easy. Don’t be surprised to see Burrow and Chase eventually break the record of TDs by a QB and WR duo, currently held by Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. Lost in all this, is how good of receivers Higgins and Boyd are. In order for the Bengals to win their first ever Super Bowl they’re gonna need to produce.
How can you not be happy for Matthew Stafford? The man suffered long and hard with Lions and now has a chance to win a Super Bowl. His connection with Kupp is truly something else. You can tell how much work these guys put in to perfect their craft. Having OBJ as your WR2 isn’t all that bad either. I can see him having an even bigger Super Bowl than Kupp. Tyler Higbee has been officially ruled out for the game. This is gonna be a bigger deal than people realize. He is a consistent tight end and doesn’t get as much love as he deserves.
The Rams of course have the better defense. I personally can’t wait to see Ramsey matchup with Chase. Then you got the one man wrecking crew in Aaron Donald, and a former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller. The Bengals defense has been frickin solid. Holding Mahomes and the Chiefs to only 3 points in the second half and OT! It’s so easy to only talk about their offense. Their defense continues to make clutch play after clutch play.
When talking about the Super Bowl I love talking X-factors. My X-factor for the Rams is Van Jefferson. He has elite speed. I think he’ll score a TD off a bomb by Stafford. Kupp and OBJ will attract a lot of attention, leaving Van Jefferson with favourable coverage. For the Bengals, I got Joe Mixon. We forget how good he truly is. Burrow has been great, but I think Mixon will need to break off a few long runs for them to have a chance.
Now for my pick. I went back and forth. I really did. But…..
Gimme the Rams to win Super Bowl 56 at home 27-24 with Cooper Kupp getting the game MVP!
No matter what, Stafford will find a way to get the ball to his star player and it should be enough for LA to be Super Bowl champions. This game promises to be a good one!! GET YOUR POPCORN READYYYYYYY
