Canada Men’s Soccer Team Puts The World On Notice

Who would’ve thought that right before the Winter Olympics that Canadians would be more excited for soccer than Team Canada Hockey. CanMNT schedule in January looked like it was impossible to overcome. January 22nd vs Guatemala was canceled but here come Honduras on the 27th, the Americans on the 30th and El Salvador three days later on February 2nd. The boys up north secured nine out of a possible nine points. Canada has also won five of their last five dating back to November including a huge win over Mexico.

The biggest win was on January 30th vs Team USA. The Americans are in a rebuild of sorts but still an extremely talented squad with World Cup experience but the Canadians brought the passion with home field advantage. Canada was without Alphonso Davies but that didn’t stop stars like Jonathan David and Cyle Larin and Club de Foot de Montreal stud defender Alistair Johnston. One of the brightest spots is in between the pipes. Milan Borjan (sounds like bond villain name) is a loose cannon but he commands the box. He’s a big boy that commands respect and fears nobody, True Canadian Grit right there.

Canada sits atop the standings with a four point lead over USA. They have three games left vs Costa Rica, Panama and Jamaica. Canada is well on their way to their first World Cup appearance since 1986.
