So after weeks and weeks of teasing it, it finally looks like we’ll be getting the match of CM Punk vs MJF. It’s an absolutely huge match, but it’s not the only thing we have scheduled for tonight’s show. We have two women who are looking to break into the rankings in a singles match, And an absolutely huge tag team match. Also will we hear from newest AEW signing Danhausen?
CM Punk vs MJF
This is a match that is on the top of everyone’s list when CM Punk made his shocking return last year. Punk has been in a few feuds before this, but this is the one that many people were looking forward to the most. CM Punk and MJF have been having crazy promo battles over the past few weeks, but tonight we finally get the match between these two.
CM Punk has gone through Wardlow, Shawn Spears, and even beat FTR with the Help of Sting and Darby Allin. Punk has beaten everyone from the Pinnacle for the chance to get his hands on MJF. I think AEW have told a great story so far, and the fact that CM Punk and MJF haven’t even touched each other once, is going to make it that more rewarding when Punk beats up MJF.
But what shape will CM Punk be in for tonight’s match? The Pinnacle destroyed Punk on last week’s Dynamite, so we know that there is no way CM Punk will be 100%. The other fact to consider is, that this is MJF after all, could this match just be another set up to have CM Punk cornered? I think there is a chance of that, because this match seems more fitting for a PPV. I think MJF might get the win here, for nuclear heat.
Ruby Soho vs Nyla Rose
This match seemingly came out of nowhere, when Nyla Rose came out on last week’s Dynamite, and threw out a challenge to Ruby Soho. We know Ruby is never one to back down from a challenge, so we have our match.
Nyla said the reason for her challenging Soho, is because Ruby beat her in the TBS tournament, and that win was a fluke. Given the chance again, Nyla would come out on top. This is an interesting match up, because both these ladies need a win, but I see Ruby getting another win over Nyla in this match.
PAC & Penta El Zero M vs Malakai Black & Brody King
In what has been the most eye catching story of 2022, Malakai Black and his House of Black, continue to dominate the AEW roster. One wrestler that Malakai had set his sights on was PAC. We found out last week that PAC “couldn’t be corrupted” by the House of Black, and in making his return, he and Penta will be taking on Malakai and Brody King in a tag match.
Brody King has showed he’s a force to be reckoned with already in his short time in AEW, and Malakai has proved that he could be a major player in either the men’s single or tag team division, but this match is easily going to be the biggest test for both of them. PAC returning and teaming with Penta is a fantastic team that we’ve seen already, so which direction will AEW go in this match?
The thought of PAC vs Malakai to me is PPV quality match that this tag match could build towards. Or, what if PAC turns on Penta and does join the House of Black? There are so many ways this story could go, and I’m all for it. If I had to choose, I’d pick the House of Black to win here, with some kind of cheating.
At the time of writing this, that’s all that’s been announced for Dynamite, but I’m sure we’ll hear from AEW champ Hangman Page before his big Texas Deathmatch with Lance Archer. And hopefully we see more of Danhausen because he’s one of the most over characters in wrestling right now.
All this and so much more can be seen on TBS (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
