AEW are kicking off their first show on TBS with an absolutely HUGE card! Headlined by the big rematch of current AEW champion Hangman Adam Page vs Bryan Danielson, we’re also getting two other title matches. We’ll have the tag team titles defended, and a new TBS champion crowned. We also have Malakai Black in action.
Hangman Adam Page (C) vs Bryan Danielson – AEW Championship match
The first meeting of these two had the IWC split. Some where upset that it went to a 60 minute draw, while others thought it was a great match. I’m apart of that second group, and really enjoyed the match. Even though it was two draws in a couple of months, it’s much better than a disqualification. I think that giving us the rematch so quickly is a good idea, as it should please the people who weren’t happy with the original result, and hey, I’m in for any rematch between Hangman Adam Page and Bryan Danielson.
There is also the added stipulation for this match, that if it does go to 60 minutes again, there will be judges that award the match to someone. I personally don’t want to see that happen, and want an outright winner.
I’ve been on the fence about what I think is going to happen in this match. Part of me is afraid that AEW might do a title change, because Bryan Danielson could be viewed as the bigger draw. I think there is something here with Hangman Page, but all the title reigns up to this point have been pretty long, so maybe AEW want to change that. And even though the chase for the title with Hangman is so good, I want to see what he can do with the title. So I going for a Hangman win here.
Jade Cargill vs Ruby Soho – TBS Tournament Finals
We’ve finally reached the TBS tournament finals, and like I’ve been saying from the beginning, Jade Cargill is there, and she’s in the finals with a very skilled opponent. As soon as I heard the announcement of the TBS title, I figured it would be a way to showcase Jade Cargill, while not having her as the Women’s champion. So I’m not going against my original thoughts, and I’m sticking with Jade in this match.
On the other hand, Ruby Soho has been doing some great things in AEW so far. However, if she were to lose this match, it’ll already be two times in her short AEW career that she’s lost title matches. I know Ruby is someone who can bounce back, but it would be a tough pill to swallow.
There are tons of ways to protect Ruby if she were to take the pin, but I’m hoping AEW stay way from that, after all, this is the first time the belt is being presented. But Mercedes Martinez did just debut for the company and cost Thunder Rosa, so could she do the same to Ruby? No matter how we get to the finish, I believe Jade Cargill will have her hand raised.
Lucha Bros (C) vs Jurassic Express – Tag Team Title Match
This Wednesday, it’ll be exactly four months since the Lucha Bros became the AEW tag team champions. Oddly enough, this will be the first time they’ve defended the titles on Dynamite. Their four previous defences have all come on Rampage, and one on Full Gear. The team going up against the Lucha Bros will be Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus.
AEW have been building to this match for a while, and the mix up between Christian Cage and Penta in the 10-man tag last week was the final straw that got this match set. The wildcard here could be Christian. A lot of people seem to think that Cage is going to be turning on Jurassic Express soon, and I’m one of them. I think it’s here that Christian turns on JB and Luchasaurus, to cost them the match. I expect the Lucha Bros to retain.
The other announced match that we have, is Malakai Black vs Brian Pillman Jr. Could we finally see the first member of the House of Black? We also know that MJF will be in action.
All this and so much more can be seen on TNT (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
