It’s that time of year again, where the AEW Dynamite Diamond ring is up for grabs, and we find out if MJF can win this for the third year in a row. That is not the only thing scheduled for this week’s Dynamite, the Young Bucks return to tag team action, Bryan Danielson looks to continue his destruction of the Dark Order, and two of the top women in the division go head-to-head in single’s action.
Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale:
This Battle Royale was a match that AEW introduced two years ago, that seemed at the time, it would just be a little gimmick. However, MJF has been able to turn this into a huge part of his character, and the diamond ring has lead to numerous wins for him. Now the question is, will MJF be able to hang on to his ring for the third year in a row, or will there be a new wrestler to carry around the diamond ring?
The full list of participants hasn’t been announced yet, but we do know a few of the wrestlers that will be in the match. Obviously, we have MJF in the match, but Taz also mentioned that Team Taz will be in the match. So I think that means the three active competitors and not Hook. We also have Lio Rush who will be in the match, so that gives us five of the twelve competitors.
I think we will see CM Punk, not in the match itself, but he could be there to cost MJF. I’m hoping that to add a further twist, it’s Wardlow that ends up being one of the final two, and then proceeds to win the ring. It could create the final storyline, before Wardlow has enough of MJF, and leaves the Pinnacle.
Jamie Hayter vs Riho:
On the Black Friday episode of Rampage, Riho scored a big victory of AEW women’s champion Britt Baker, to jump ahead of the line and earn herself a shot at Baker’s title. The title match doesn’t have a confirmed date yet, but for now, Riho will have to take on another member of Team DMD, Jamie Hayter.
Jamie Hayter’s stock is on the rise, and similarly to Baker, Hayter gained a lot of notoriety with her last match. Even though it was a loss to Thunder Rosa, the loss came from a misplaced super kick by Baker, and it was an awesome match. I think that Jamie Hayter has a big future with AEW.
I think that we will see the next chapter of the dissension between Baker and Hayter, and it could be the reason why Hayter losses tonight. Because logically you can’t have your number one contender lose before her championship match, and I don’t want to see Hayter keep losing, so I think Britt or Rebel cost Hayter the match.
Young Bucks vs Chuck Taylor & Rocky Romero
The Young Bucks will be returning to action on this week’s Dynamite, and it’ll be against the pairing of Chuck Taylor and NJPW’s Rocky Romero. It’s not Taylor’s normal partner and best friend, Trent, because he is still out due to injury, but Romero will be a nice replacement as it’s showcasing again the new alliance within Chaos.
I think that the Elite going up against Best Friends, is an interesting feud, but it’s a feud that the Elite need to win. The Elite are in need of a rebound, and they need to start winning matches and gaining momentum. Whether it be cheating to win, or just outright winning, but Adam Cole and the Young Bucks need to get back on track.
Bryan Danielson will also be taking on the next hometown boy in John Silver, in single’s action. It’s very likely to see Danielson pick up another win here before Winter is Coming next week.
All this and so much more can be seen on TNT (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
