Last week’s picks. I must have jinxed the Cowboys as I trusted them to beat the Broncos at home, and they failed miserably. A lot of unusual results last week; the Bills only scored six points and lost to the Jaguares, Giants upset the Raiders, the Falcons lost the lead and came back and won on a field goal, Vikings lost again in overtime, and the Bengals did not show up against the Browns. I trust week ten to be every bit as exciting and unpredictable. I had a week where I was able to salvage a few picks. |
Pop’s Record Pop’s record last week: 8–5 Season 75-60. The record against the spread last week is 7–6 season 74-61. Upset of the week 2-6. |
Ravens (6-2) at Dolphins (2-7) Line: Ravens are favoured by 7.5 Dolphins beat a horrible Texans team. Ravens were fortunate to get out of Minnesota with an overtime win. The Dolphins, after beating the Patriots in week one, have skidded downhill every week. I am going to have to trust the Ravens. Ravens win but don’t cover. Ravens lead series 10-6-0. |
Saints (5-3) at Titans (7-2) Line:Titans favoured by 3. Titans have won four straight and had an impressive victory against the Rams last week. Usually, the Titans are up and down and sometimes totally underperform, as their loss to the Jets would indicate. The Saints have also been an up and down as the there Quarterback situation remains ambiguous. The Titans win a close one. Titans win and cover. Titans lead series 8-6-1. |
Bills(7-2) at Jets (2-6) Line: Bills as are favoured by 13.5. I’m not sure what to expect. The Bills lost a game in which they could only score 6 points. In the last game, the Jets played, the Colts hammered them. Both teams are upset. I am going with the better team, which is the Bills. Bills win but don’t cover. Bills lead series 65-56-0. |
Lions (0-8) at Steelers (5-3) Line: Steelers are favoured by 9. Steelers have surprised with their wins this year. They seem to know how to win close games. The Lions are still looking for their first victory; this is probably a good spot on the schedule after their bye to post a win. The Lions finally pull a Ted Lasso-type victory out of the bag, and it will be my upset special. Lions win. Steelers lead series 17-14-1. |
Jaguars (2-6) at Colts (4-5) Line: Patriots favoured by 10.5. Can the Jaguars make two upsets in a row? The Colts have won some close games and lost some close games. They have battled in every game. I think it will be close Colts will win, and the Jaguars will cover. Colts win but don’t cover. Colts lead series 25-15-0. |
Browns(5-4) at Patriots (5-4) Line: Patriots favoured by 1.5. Browns have COVID issues at the running back position. Baker has a shoulder issue. Patriots are reasonably healthy but are hurting at running back. Both teams have good defences. I pick the Patriots to win and cover. Patriots win and cover. Browns lead series 13-12-0. |
Bucs (6-2) at WFT(2-6) Line: Bucs favoured by 9.5. Both teams are coming off the bye week and well-rested. The Bucs seem to click on all cylinders. The strength of the WFT is the front seven, and they have been under-performing. I don’t expect a quick remedy for the WFT against the Bucs. Bucs win but WFT covers. Bucs win but don’t cover. Series tied 12-12-0. |
Falcons (4-4) at Cowboys (6-2) Line: Cowboys favoured by 7. Can it happen? Can the Cowboys lose two weeks in a row to lessor openers at home? Last year the Falcons lost to the Cowboys standing around and allowing the Cowboys to recover an onside kick. The Falcons seem to make each game close, but the angry Cowboys have too much talent to lay another egg. The Cowboys win, but the Falcons cover. Cowboys win and Falcons cover. Cowboys lead series 18-11-0. |
Panthers (4-5) at Cardinals (8-1) Line: Cardinals favoured by 10. This game could be an opportunity for the Panthers to find some traction as they may be facing the Colt McCoy lead Cardinals. The Cards are heavy favourites, with the Panthers having their Quarterback problems. Even with Colt at the helm, the Cardinals will win. Cardinals win and cover. Panthers lead series 13-5-0. |
Vikings (3-5) at Chargers(5-3) Line: Chargers favoured by 2.5.\ Vikings have been playing tough this year but are having difficulty converting close games to victories. After some impressive wins earlier this year, the Chargers were sent crashing back to reality by the Patriots and the Ravens. Vikings lost a heart-breaker to the Ravens last week. It will be close, and the Chargers will win by a field goal. Chargers win but don’t cover. Vikings lead Series 7-6-0. |
Seahawks (3-5) at Packers (7-2) Line: Packers by favoured by 3.5. The Packers should be getting back Aaron Rodgers, not clear if Seahawks will get back Wilson. Despite the vaccine controversy, the Packers win, and the Seahawks will cover. Packers but don’t cover. Packers lead series 14-9-0. |
Chiefs (5-4) at Raiders (5-3) Line: Chiefs favoured by 2.5. The Chiefs seem to be in disarray, but the Chiefs are winning without being explosive on offence. The Raiders should have figured what kind of defence beats the Chiefs. The Raiders rebound and win. Raiders win. Chiefs lead series 68-54-21. |
Eagles(3-6) at Broncos(5-4) Line: Broncos favoured by 3. Jalen Hurts ability to improvise and run out of the pocket makes the Eagles a dangerous team. The Broncos were focused and beat the Cowboys in Dallas The Broncos are confident and will have an excellent plan to contain Hurts and win this home game. Broncos win and cover. Bears lead 68-54–2. |
Rams (7-2) at 49ers(3-5) Line: Rams are favoured by 3.5. The 49ers are struggling and have created an unstable situation with their Quarterbacks. Their defence is not performing to their potential. The Rams got pushed around by the emerging Tiitans last week. There is too much talent for the Rams to lose again. Rams win and cover. 49ers lead series 73-67-3. |
