AEW Dynamite Preview: What’s Next After Arthur Ashe

It’ll be hard to top last week’s episode of Dynamite, as we got maybe the best TV match of all time. Even though it won’t be as high profile as last week, this week’s Dynamite is still looking like a great card. We’ll have a big match for the TNT championship, a women’s tag match that has been teased for a while, more tag team action, and a match everyone has wanted to see since a big name made his debut.

All that and more, and here is where we break it all down.

Miro (C) vs Sammy Guevara – TNT Title Match

Whoever becomes the TNT championship, seems to have elevated their game, and taken their career to the next level. I think it’s safe to say, that Miro has unlocked a whole other gear in his promo work, and has become a huge star in AEW. He has been dominant in every title defence, and to Miro, this is his world championship. The TNT championship has never looked in danger of leaving Miro, but tonight Miro faces his most explosive challenger to date.

It has been a while since Sammy Guevara has been in a meaningful feud, but tonight he has a chance to put himself in the spotlight once again. This match is obviously important because it’s for the TNT championship, but Miro has made this personal, as he has been absolutely destroying Sammy’s best friend, Fuego Del Sol over the past few weeks. So this is a chance for Sammy to get revenge for his friend, and take away the thing that’s most important to Miro.

If there wasn’t a time limit draw on last week’s episode, I think this would have been a good spot to have one. But because the draw is off the table, I’ll have Miro win this because I still think there is a lot left in the tank for The Redeemer.

Adam Cole vs Jungle Boy

There has been an influx of top tier wrestlers coming through the doors for AEW in the past few weeks, and Adam Cole is one of those names. One of Cole’s first actions in a AEW ring, was super kicking Jungle Boy in the face. At that moment, we all knew this is a match we want to see, and a match we NEED to see. I personally thought that AEW would make us wait a little longer before we got this match, but hey, I’m not complaining.

It has been a few weeks now that Jurassic Express has be kind of lost in the shuffle/ repeatedly coming to the aid of anyone being targeted by the Elite. There has been some rumours going around that AEW might introduce trios titles, and I think that would be perfect for Jurassic Express. In the mean time, Jungle Boy will have his sights set on Adam Cole, and try to get a measure of revenge for this past Rampage.

I think we’re in store for something special here, as it’s no doubt that Adam Cole is a world class wrestler, and Jungle Boy isn’t at the same level yet, but he shows all the promise in the world that he’ll get there one day. For tonight’s encounter, I think it’ll go in favour of Adam Cole in a match that hopefully gets its fair share of time, and no interference.

Anna Jay & Tay Conti vs The Bunny & Penelope Ford

This is a feud that has been brewing for weeks, and this match in particular, is something that AEW has been building since Anna Jay made her return. It was Tay Conti who found herself with a numbers disadvantage when Penelope Ford aligned herself with the Bunny, but luckily for Tay, Anna was fully recovered from her injury, and was able to make the save.

These four women have been trading wins and losses in singles matches over the last few weeks, and last Friday, it was the Bunny and Penelope who had the last laugh after they clocked Anna and Tay with the brass knuckles.

To be honest, I have no idea who wins this match tonight. If I had to choose, I’d lean towards keeping the storyline of the Dark Order being a mess, and have Anna and Tay lose. I hope that this leads to more tag matches for the women’s division, and maybe lead to tag titles as well.

We also have Cody Rhodes teaming with Lee Johnson to take the face team of Dante Martin, and Matt Sydal. Could this be leading to a Cody heel turn? Will we hear from either Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, or CM Punk? Find out later tonight on AEW Dynamite!

All this and so much more can be seen on TNT (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
