With this being the last Dynamite before All Out, we’ll have our last pieces of the puzzle to have a crystal clear image of what the PPV will look like. The All Out card is pretty much set, with 10 already announced matches, Tonight’s Dynamite will be basically a hype up show for this Sunday’s event. In typical AEW style, that doesn’t mean there’s a break from the action, as there are two big payoff matches scheduled for tonight. Pinnacle and Inner Circle tag teams go to war, and a member of team Taz looks to take out one of their former members. We also have three other scheduled matches, and interviews for both MJF and Chris Jericho.
All that and so much more, and here’s where we break it all down.
Santana & Ortiz vs FTR
This is a feud that has been going on for a while now, and hopefully tonight we’ll get the proper pay off for the feud. I say proper, because a few weeks ago on Dynamite, this match came to an impromptu end, when Cash Wheeler of FTR had a freak accident near one of the ring post. It was a gruesome injury, and according to Cash’s twitter, isn’t even fully recovered yet. He and Dax are still saying they’re ready to go, so tonight on Dynamite, we get the much anticipated rematch.
As we saw in their tag team match a couple weeks ago, in the Stadium Stampede, and in the Blood and Guts match, when Santana and Ortiz are in the same ring as FTR, they always produce the goods. Even when their tag team match was cut short, up until the Cash injury, I thought the match was fantastic! I hope that going forward, whoever wins this match, will be the first team to get a shot at either the Young Bucks or Lucha Bros.
Santana and Ortiz have kind of been in limbo since the stall with this feud with FTR, and that’s a shame because both these teams are fantastic. I’m hoping that they both have a great match and go their separate ways after. I think I see Santana and Ortiz coming away with the win in this match.
Brian Cage vs Powerhouse Hobbs
This is a match I think a lot of people have been waiting to see. It was awesome to see two huge guys on the same team, but it’s going to be even better to see what they can do against each other. As soon as the hints were planted that Brian Cage was going to walk out on team Taz, the spotlight of the group would now shift to Ricky Starks, but the match everyone wanted to see, was Powerhouse Hobbs vs Brian Cage.
With so much going on in AEW at the moment, it was hard to find time to build to this match. Even though it’s only got a few segments that totalled about five minutes, I think the spectacle of these two huge, athletic wrestlers going one-on-one, won’t need the all the build up. Brian Cage is one of the most unique wrestlers in the business today. A guy his size has no right to be doing a hurricanrana, but he makes it look easy. Cage’s knock is his mic skills and charisma, which has improved a bit, but is still miles away from the top guys in AEW. Powerhouse Hobbs is far less experienced, but has shown promise and looks like he could develop into a future star for the company.
In this match I hope that Brian Cage wins, and maybe puts himself in contention for a shot at the TNT championship.
The Young Bucks & Good Brothers vs Lucha Brothers & Jurassic Express
This match came about after the tag team eliminator tournament was over, Jurassic Express was showing the Lucha Bros some sportsmanship after the match, when both teams were attacked by the Elite. It was the good guys that got the last laugh here with Penta and Luchasaurus kicking the Bucks off the apron, and Fenix and Jungle Boy hitting suicide dives to all four Elite members outside of the ring.
This match is here to set up the tag team title match on Sunday, and to give us a taste of what we’re going to get inside the steel cage. I predict that this match is just going to be around 10-15 minutes of non-stop, car crash style wrestling. I hope to see the Lucha Bros and Jurassic Express win this match, to give the Lucha Bros all the momentum going into All Out.
We also have two interview segments planned for tonight’s episode, one in ring interview with Chris Jericho, and a sit down interview with MJF, to hype their upcoming match. We’ll also have Orange Cassidy in single’s action, when he takes on Jack Evans, and after Penelope Ford cost Tay Conti her match on Rampage, they’ll face each other in a single’s match. Last but not least, we’ll here live from CM Punk.
All this and so much more can be seen on TNT (TSN in Canada) every Wednesday night at 8PM EST.
