Kevin Pillar Gets Hit in the Head by a Fastball, Walks Off On His Own

Kevin Pillar leaves the Game early after getting hit in the head by a pitch. Pillar bled instantly and jogged into the clubhouse. The fastball came in at 94.5MPH in the seventh inning while the bases were loaded and gave the Mets a 2-0 lead. The NY Mets extend the gap between them and the Atlanta Braves for the NL East lead. The Mets win over the Atlanta Braves tonight 3-1 and improve to a 19-16 record, three games ahead of the Braves.

The Mets bullpen has been good enough this year but we all know that will slow down eventually. The Mets fired hitting coach Chili Davis in response to the slumps of newly acquired Free Agent Francisco Lindor, Home Run Derby Winner Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto, who is usually in the top of the rotation.

The Mets took the lead in the 7th and used their deep bullpen to preserve the lease. The Win goes to Pitcher Sean Reid-Foley pitching 3 innings with five Strike Outs.
