Alistair Overeem is finally cut from the UFC. We aren’t surprised

I’ve been on record saying that Overeem should be considered one of the best Heavyweights of all time and if he had ever won the UFC HW title that he would be the best. Overeem has been the champ at Pride, K1, Dream and Strikeforce, all he was missing is UFC Gold. The famous Dutch Kickboxer is cut after his KO loss to Alexander Volkov. This comes after the UFC announced that they would be cutting their roster by 60 fighters. We all saw the writing on the wall.

Overeem has accumulated six wins and four losses in his last ten fights following his TKO loss to Stipe Miocic for the the Heavyweight title. Everytime we thought that Overeem was out he comes back with a finish and gives us fans hope that we might see a resurgence. NOtable recent wins vs Walt Harris by TKO< Alexey Oleynik by TKO and even a decision win over Fabricio Werdum. Unfortunately his most recent loss was devastating enough where the UFC had no choice but to part ways. The reality is that Overeem hasn’t beaten anyone in the top 5 in the last five years.

I can’t see Overeem retiring. He still looks sharp and hasn’t lost the passion. I see him signing at One FC and challenge Brandon Vera for the title over there. A lot of people speculate Bellator but that’s unlikely based on his relationship with Scott Coker.

Junio Dos Santos was also cut and immediately announced his retirement after 12 years of fighting. Cigano was the UFC Heavyweight at champ and is coming a four a fight losing streak all by TKO. They always say the first thing to go is your chin and that is evident in Dos Santos and Overeem.

Also take a look at our recent episode where I learn about NBA Top shots. I’m dumb, I know.
