All offseason we speculated that JJ Watt’s days in Houston were numbered. A few days in and the Texans announce they had in fact released the former NFL Defensive MVP. JJ Watt is an outspoken guy and knows how to bait people into conversations about him. He’s cheesy and very aware of how cheesy.
The writing was on the wall. The Texans mortgaged their future for an RB that hasn’t produced, the traded away one of the best receivers in the league and have been treating Deshaun Watson’s trade request like a pinata. The Houston Texans under Bill O’Brien is a mess, an absolute mess.
Watt asked to leave knowing that he gave everything he could to that franchise and that city. Looks like he’s on his way a bit west to the desert to reunite with pro bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Based on this picture he posted on his twitter (seen above).
JJ Watt knows that the only way he can get a championship is to get away from that town. He’s done so much for Houston, he created the Houston relief fund in aid of Victims of Hurricane Harvey having donated over 250 Million meals and rebuilt over 2000 homes that were destroyed.
According to Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $31M deal over two years, $23M of which is guaranteed.
