Minnesota Vikings Lack of Trades Lead the Charge in an Inactive Trade Deadline

This week Terry and Alex the Intern sat down with the guys from All Sports All Play (ASAP) Network to discuss the NFL Trade Deadline. The Dolphins were the only real active team, taking part in both trades yesterday. They traded in division, sending Isaiah Ford to the Pats and acquiring DeAndre Washington for some Running Back depth to offset their current injury issues. With only a handful of trades on the season, the conversation was more about what did not happen.

As a Vikings fan it was a telling day. With the team trading Yannick Ngakoue to the Ravens, it would have been easy to assume the rebuild was starting. Especially considering Danielle Hunter’s season ending injury and the numerous rookies on the defensive side of the ball. However, the upset win against the Packers last Sunday put the Vikings front office in a precarious position. The team’s next three games are against the Lions (11/08), Bears (11/16) and Cowboys (11/22), so a 5-5 record by the end of Week 11 is plausible. With the possibility of a 16 team playoff, the path to the playoffs for the Vikings is not inconceivable, but I really wanted Justin Fields. F**king Kirk.

Keeping in the NFC North, the Packers decided that giving Aaron Rodgers another weapon would be a mistake. Fuller’s tweet made it seems like a trade was imminent, and GB was the logical destination. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Texans were asking for a Second Round Pick, which appeared to have been outside of Green Bay’s threshold.

The final big name that came up in rumours was Stephon Gilmore. According to Russini again, last year’s Defensive Player of the Year was on the market for a First Round pick. Ultimately, as was the case with Fuller, Gilmore will be staying put in Foxborough for the remainder of the season. I would however like to highlight Belichick’s quote of the day:
