MLB Terry's Theories

Is Albert Pujols the best player ever?

Whenever someone is mentioned as the best player in MLB history, it’s usually the same names over and over. We always hear about Jeter, Ruth, Bonds, Aaron and so on, but we rarely hear about Albert Pujols. This week José Alberto Pujols Alcántara ties Willie Mays for 5th all-time in Homeruns and keeps on making a case for his GOAT status.

I don’t think that Pujols will ever reach Alex Rodriguez at #4 (696 career Homeruns) but it is possible. It’s not just the homeruns that make the case for Pujols. He is third all time in RBI (2097) and career .299 Batting Avg. Pujols has won two World Series championships with the St-Louis Cardinals. In 2001 he won Rookie of the Year and was 4th in NL MVP Voting. He’s also a 3x MVP, a 10x All-Star, 2x Gold Glove, NLCS MVP and a 6x Silver Slugger.

There is no shortage of achievements for this legend! I grew up watching him dominate at three different positions and he will definitely be a 1st ballot HOFer. I hope he can hit 700 Home Runs. So before you make your GOAT list, please look at the body of work by Albert Pujols.

  1. Im with you on that. He’s my all time favorite with Ken Griffey Jr. But at his age still being able to produce like he is..simply amazing
