UFC 246: Return of the Mac

Not to be confused with the famous club banger from the late 90s Return of the Mack by Mark Morrison. Conor Mcgregor makes his UFC comeback after a devastating loss to Khabib Namurgomedov in October of 2018. Mcgregor takes on UFC legend Donald Cerrone. There isn’t any hostility between the two fighters but it is a fight fan’s dream matchup. After you enjoy this musical masterpiece, keep on reading for my prediction.

Mcgregor has fought twice in just over three years, where Cerrone has fought eleven times in that time period. Although Cerrone is on a two fight losing streak and is 5-6 in those eleven fights, he has looked great at times and we can’t ignore his take no prisoner mentality and fight style. Cerrone is the most active fighter in UFC history, he also holds records for most finishes, most wins and most fight bonuses. Mcgregor is coming off a loss to Khabib and his “get rich quick scheme” fight vs Mayweather.

Conor looks just as focused as he used to look when he went on his run to becoming the fist ever two division champ. In a recent interview with Arile Helwani (see above attached) he said that he plans on making upward of $80 Million for this fight where vs Khabib he claims to have made $50 Million. There’s no doubt that Conor is a must watch. He’s changed the game completely and has revolutionized how fighters market themselves. This fight started when Conor was on his run to winning the Featherweight tite. The two fighters started chirping eachother at a press conference. The fans wanted that fight from back then, over four years ago.

My prediction: Conor is a counter puncher so he will try to wait for Cerrone to over compensate and crack the Colorado native with his big left hand. Cerrone throws in bunches and is very comfortable on his back. I dont think this fight will hit the ground at all but we might see Cerrone try a take down at the end of rounds just to score points, but other than that it will be a standing bout. Cerrone has lost a step and Conor lost his focus. This is why seeing Conor regain his focus is scary! Cerrone collects paychecks and will fight anyone. That means this fight isn’t phasing him at all He wants to get his money and get out on his Harley, Helicopter, go cliff diving or whatever other crazy adventure he has planned. Cerrone also chokes in big fights. Last fight he was getting peppered by Anthony Pettis before the doctors stopped the fight.

Conor by KO in the 3rd round

There are other fights on the card. The return of Holly Holm, Caludia Gdelha and Anthony Pettis. My picks:

Holy Holm vs Raquel Pennington

Aleksei Oleinik vs Maurice Greene

Claudia Gadelha vs Alexa Grasso

Anthony Pettis vs Diego Ferreira
